Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University sophomore Michela Verpelli (Milan, Italy) is the second player in the history of Wingate women's tennis to be named the SAC Player of the Year, league officials announced Wednesday afternoon. Verpelli and Claudia De Andreis (Milan, Italy) earn first team All-SAC singles honors, with freshman Chyi Lee (Taipei, Taiwan) earning second team accolades. Verpelli and senior Maria Garcia (San Carlos, Venezuela) are first team All-SAC doubles honorees, while Lee and senior Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) earn honorable mention all-conference doubles accolades. In addition, Michael Cabana is the SAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year for the eighth straight year.
