Indianapolis, Ind.----The Wingate University Bulldogs are ranked seventh in the first NCAA Southeast Regional rankings of the 2016-17 season, which were released Wednesday afternoon. The NCAA regional rankings are used to determine the NCAA Tournament field. Eight teams from each region go to the NCAA Tournament. Wingate has won 13 of its last 14 games, entering Wednesday night's game at 16-8 overall and 13-5 in the SAC.
