Indianapolis, Ind.----The Wingate University women's basketball team is ranked fifth in the first NCAA Southeast Regional rankings of the 2016-17 season, which were released Wednesday afternoon. The NCAA regional rankings are used to determine the NCAA Tournament field. Eight teams from each region go to the NCAA Tournament. Wingate is 19-4 overall and 15-3 in the SAC. Three SAC schools are listed in this week's top 10.
