Wingate, N.C.----Patriots' Day at Wingate University is a 19-year tradition. Each year, the WU Athletic Department and the football program have dedicated one game to honor United States veterans, active military and community heroes (police, fire and first responders). Wingate will host its annual Patriots' Day Celebration on Saturday at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field as the Bulldogs host the Carson-Newman Eagles (6 p.m. kick-off on ESPN3).
