Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University junior setter Rachel Alles has been named the 2018 South Atlantic Conference volleyball Player of the Year, league officials announced Thursday morning. Alles joins senior middle blocker Phoebe Havenaar as a first team All-SAC selection, while seniors Anna Holmquist, Kori Adams and Hannah Givens are second team All-SAC honorees. In addition, Shelton Collier has been named the SAC Coach of the Year. The 'Dogs finished as the league's statistical leaders in kills per set, assists per set, hitting percentage, winning percentage and opponents' hitting percentage. Wingate's five all-conference selections are a league high.
